WATUSSI has taken the festival and live music scene in Australia by storm. They are in great demand both internationally and nationally and have performed at some of the biggest festivals around the world including: various WOMADS, Byron Bay Blues Festival, Sydeny, Perth and The Falls Festival etc.

Watussi (pronounced "WAH-too-SEE", Cuban slang for the 'most handsome man at the party') is a Sydney-based eight piece band. The mix of Afro-Colombian funked-up percussive rhythms with the raw unmistakable distorted guitar rock riffs and thumping bass of Watussi not only gives them their unique sound and edge. Moreover, it signifies one of the most dynamic and unique World Music groups to come out of the multicultural broth of Sydney's Bondi Beach. Led by Colombian born Oscar Jimenez with a sound that has been variously described as 'Afro-Colombian rock and roots' and 'Rage Against The Machine with Horns'.

SYDNEY COMEDY FESTIVAL PLAY
COMES TO KANTARA HOUSE

HOT CHIPS

Hot Chips was given an airing some little while ago at the Sydney off Broadway Hotel as
part of the Comedy Festival. It had been selected for a special presentation with Barry
Crocker, Gary Who, Lyn Pierse and the playwright Lee Gaynor. The event was
sponsored by the then Sydney Comedy Workshop.

Lee says she was originally inspired to write the play and to set it in a Central Coast
retirement village after seeing and enjoying the classic British black and white Terry-
Thomas comedy Make Mine Mink.

Audiences on the Central Coast can soon see their own home-grown Brigadier in the
person of one very experienced actor, Lex Tonnet. Assisting Lex in confounding the
alarming Sydney gambling mob as they try to take over her villa, is another well known
actor, Rose Cooper.

Setting the cat amongst the peaceful pigeons of Rose’s lovely little retirement villa is one
terrifyingly dumb, blonde Transylvanian, self-styled princess played by Lee Gaynor.
Fortunately, her wilder activities are held in some little check by her manager (or is he
her keeper? There are less silly beasts in the zoo) Henri. Poor Henri tries desperately to
bring some sense to her activities but it seems he must have some serious karma to deal
with. Henri in all his energetic futility and exasperation is played by yet another well-
known theatrical (not to mention film and television) performer, David Kerslake.
Dave is also given the opportunity to display his female aspect. But he is hoping people
